About the role:

As an ESL Teacher at Nova, you will have the opportunity to work remotely and manage online classes of 8 to 10 students using our dedicated platform and website. Our classes emphasize a comprehensive approach to language learning, focusing on all four key skills—speaking, writing, reading, and listening—while also honing the sub-skills of grammar and vocabulary.
 
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and interactive lessons that cater to a diverse group of learners. You will provide both immediate, in-class feedback and thoughtful, delayed feedback to support continuous student improvement. Our teachers are expected to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel motivated to participate and grow.
 
You will collaborate with other teachers and Nova’s academic team to ensure high standards of instruction, all while benefiting from the flexibility of remote work. Nova’s teaching methodology is designed to make language learning both enjoyable and effective, and as a teacher, you will be at the forefront of delivering this experience to learners around the globe.

Qualifications:

  • Native or Near-Native English Proficiency: Candidates must possess native or near-native fluency in English, with an overall IELTS score of 7 or equivalent. (Native speakers of English do not need to provide a language proficiency test report)
  • Educational Background: A degree or coursework in Education, Linguistics, English Literature, or a related field is required.
  • Teaching Experience: Prior experience in teaching is an asset.
  • Passion for Teaching: We are looking for candidates who are passionate about teaching, eager to inspire students, and devoted to creating an engaging learning environment.
  • Age: Ideal candidates will be between the ages of 19-30.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Teachers must be excellent communicators, able to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Patience and Understanding: Patience is key when working with learners of varying levels and abilities. Teachers should be supportive and encouraging.
  • Grammar Expertise: A deep knowledge of English grammar and the ability to teach it in an accessible and relatable way is essential.
  • Adaptability and Teamwork: Teachers should be adaptable to different learning styles and focused on working collaboratively with students and fellow instructors.
  • Technical Proficiency: Excellent skills in using LMS and online learning systems are required for remote teaching and managing student progress effectively.
  • Flexibility: Candidates should be adaptable to varying class schedules. Please note that while we strive to provide consistent opportunities, we cannot guarantee a full-time schedule or daily classes.

The Process

Our hiring process is designed to ensure that we select the best candidates who share our passion for teaching and commitment to student success. The process includes:
  • 1. Application Submission: Interested candidates should complete the application form using the form on this page.
  • 2. Initial Interview: Selected applicants will be invited to participate in an initial interview conducted via RedDot by our Education Team. This interview will assess qualifications, teaching philosophy, and alignment with Nova’s mission.
  • 3. In-Person Meeting: Candidates who successfully pass the RedDot interview will be invited to an in-person meeting with both our Education and Executive Teams. This meeting will further discuss the role, expectations, and address any additional questions.
  • 4. Offer and Contract Signing: Upon satisfactory completion of all interview stages, successful candidates will be offered a teaching position. They will then be required to sign a contract with the Nova team.
  • 5. Tailored Training: Before beginning their classes, all new hires will attend tailored training sessions designed to prepare them for success in their teaching role at Nova. These sessions will cover our teaching methodology, use of the LMS platform, and best practices for managing student progress.
